Overview
EMLC offers the
National College for School Leadership's Early Headship
Provision (EHP) including New Visions across the East, East Midlands and
West Midlands. This provision has replaced the earlier Head teacher Induction Programme (HIP). EHP has the New Visions programme
at its core and allows you to access a variety of support, including a learning review, coaching and other
activities designed to
identify and meet the needs of
head teachers in the early years in the job and of acting head teachers. It offers a personalised
and flexible way of meeting your needs.
The provision is supported by the EHP grant designed to ensure
that you are able to access the development you need. Details of
the EHP grant and how to get it can be found on the
NCSL website.
EHP
is available to all newly appointed, first-time head
teachers and acting head teachers in post for two or
more terms in England in a:
-
maintained school
-
non-maintained special school
-
Pupil Referral Unit
-
service offering direct teaching to pupils
Learning reviews,
coaching and other activities from EMLC
Learning
reviews: We are able to support you with a learning review to identify your development needs and
help you plan the use of your EHP grant and access the available
opportunities. We can arrange for one
of our experienced facilitators to visit you or you can use the
online learning review and receive telephone support from a
facilitator. To access the online learning review, you will need
a username and password from EMLC. To obtain these,
please contact us.

Support:
We can provide you with a
programme of support from your appointment as head through
into the early months in post and beyond. Please
e mail us for details of how we can work with you at
this time.
Seminars
and consultancy: We provide seminars and leadership
learning events designed to meet local needs.
Coaching:
Our coaching programme offers great flexibility and
can be tailored to meet your requirements. This can be based on
feedback from a learning review or a diagnostic questionnaire
and an assessment of your own and your school's priorities.
New Visions
If you have registered for EHP,
you can enrol on New Visions. Applications can be made through the
Learning Gateway section of the NCSL website:
www.ncsl.org.uk/newvisions
Your place
on the
New Visions
programme, which EMLC provides on behalf of NCSL in the East,
East Midlands and West Midlands,
is funded from an ear marked portion of your EHP grant.
The programme consists of a two-day residential course and four
further one-day meetings over 10 months. Each session gives the opportunity to
reflect on practice, to problem-solve with others and to plan
for the implementation of ideas. The programme offers a
means of engaging with, learning from and contributing to the
practice of other new heads.
Please phone Liz Pearson at EMLC on 01604 817700 if you
want to discuss your application.
Third party providers
The EHP grant can also
be used to fund other development opportunities, such as
personal coaching, seminars and other activities designed to
help you carry out your new role effectively. These
opportunities are provided by EMLC and you
may also access support from other providers. We handle payments
to other providers so you will need to contact EMLC to ensure
that any invoices from other providers can be paid from your EHP
grant.

EHP and to apply, visit the NCSL website by clicking on the button
