As a provider of
leadership development and support, EMLC aims to encourage
debate and research about leadership and to recognise leadership
that makes a difference.
Debate
One option is to make a comment
in the EMLC
leadership blog. The blog records some thoughts on
leadership and provides a place to reflect on some of the
current issues surrounding leadership in education.
Recognition
We aim to identify and recognise
excellent leadership at different
levels - by facilitators, local authority staff, school leaders
and pupils. Please share with us examples of excellent
leadership and let us know of leaders who make a difference. We
want to share such examples and recognise them through case
studies and awards and provide opportunities for successful
leaders to work with us on the design and delivery of our
programmes and services.
Research
EMLC supports a number of
research initiatives on aspects of leadership. These include:
research with Liverpool John Moores University and the
University of Birmingham into the impact of NPQH and the
journey to headship. This work is being led by Professor
Mark Brundrett of Liverpool John Moores University
research
by Alan Flintham (pictured right) into headship in Catholic
schools in England and Australia
research through a project funded by the TDA to
collect evidence of the most effective ways to support and
develop
CPD leadership in schools
EMLC bursaries provided to a number of schools to research
aspects of leadership with the aim of developing strategies
for improving the quality of leadership that can be shared
with others
We
aim to build on research and best practice in the programmes we
design and deliver.
